Why use css for seo?
June 30, 2011 on 1:08 am | In Web Design, Search Engine Optimization | No Commentsby SEO Houston
The most important reason to use css (cascading style sheets) for seo (search engine optimization) is because it is the standard to build web sites. And the standard helps search engine spiders separate structure from layout which in turn helps you put the information that you want to be crawled relevant without a spider having to wade through a bunch of images used in the layout. Basically it makes your site more crawlable.
It will also make your page load quicker because the stylesheet will get cached therefore allowing the rest of the pages to load quicker after the initial page. And we all know that a faster loading page is not only good for the spiders but good for usability.
HTML (the Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) are two of the core technologies for building Web pages. HTML provides the structure of the page, CSS the (visual and aural) layout, for a variety of devices. Along with graphics and scripting, HTML and CSS are the basis of building Web pages and Web Applications.

The only thing you definitely need to be aware of are seo companies using css for black hat tricks which can bring a short term goal but ruin your long term goals.

SEO – Is It Worth The Work?
June 26, 2011 on 2:11 pm | In Search Engine Optimization | No Commentsby James Stacy Jones
There has been a lot of talk about how important SEO is to building up your online business and establishing a formidable Internet presence. You're probably wondering how much of that talk is real and how much of it is just hype. When you consider that the higher your page rank is the more people are likely to click on your website you should be able to see how having your web page rank higher would serve your business interests more. There is more to SEO than that though.
Increased Exposure
Not only does a front page search engine ranking help you make more immediate sales. It also helps you gain more exposure. The long and short of this is that the more people see your name associated with the service or products you offer, the more likely it will be that you are the first name they think of when the time to buy that product or service comes around. When your name ranks high on the search engine results, more people will see and remember the name of your business.
Better Conversions
SEO not only brings more traffic to your website but it also serves to ensure that the traffic you get is targeted. What this means is that the traffic coming to you from the search engines is looking for what you have to offer. You wouldn't optimize a construction website for shoes. It would be optimized for construction. This way you are going to get traffic that is looking for construction companies and not customers that are actually shopping for shoes. The more targeted the traffic coming to your website from the search engines is, the more likely those visits will translate into sales.
Learning the right SEO techniques from the beginning can greatly impact your bottom line. If your goal is to turn a bigger profit and enjoy more conversions from your website, then it is time to call in the SEO experts at Magnetiks. Let us take your SEO efforts to new page rank highs today. Yes, it is definitely the work.

What is the Purpose of Professional SEO Services?
June 17, 2011 on 1:55 pm | In Search Engine Optimization | No Commentsby James Stacy Jones
If you have been doing business online or are considering making the move from a brick and mortar business into the realm of the World Wide Web there is a bit of lingo you are going to have to learn in order to make it work. One of those phrases that is a must when it comes to doing business online is SEO. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and it is a process you will need to go through with your website in order to get the search engines to pay attention to your little site among the millions of sites occupying the web and competing for that same attention.
The goal is to have your website rank near the top of the front page of various search engines (Google, MSN, and Yahoo are obvious first choices but others are quite popular also) when they search for phrases that are relative to your business. Professional SEO services make sure that when your page is searched, it is near the top.
So, how do they do this? Different companies have worked hard to develop their secret formulas for delivering consistent results for SEO. However, there are a few things that most are willing to share with you that will help you make your website more attractive to the search engine “spiders” that frequently crawl through your web page code to see if there's anything there they like—don't worry, these spiders are good spiders. At least when they decide they like what you have to offer. Otherwise they are bad news for your page rank.
The first secret is content. You've heard that content is king. If you haven't heard this, it is. However, content is taking on a wide range of meanings lately. Content is much more than the words typed on the page. Don't get me wrong, they are extremely important. But, content also means video, audio, and even the graphics of your web page. You need all of this optimized for the key words and phrases you want to rank well in the search engines for.
The second secret is links. Believe it or not, page rank is, in many ways, a popularity contest. The more sites that are linking back to your site, the more popular the search engines believe you are. There are many ways to build important backlinks. Professional SEO services can take some of the pain out of building these important links out of your hand and do the hard part for you.
The final secret most SEO professionals are willing to share is code. There is a need to optimize your website for the search engines on all levels. It isn't all limited to the stuff that your traffic or audience sees. A lot of the optimization efforts will involved those things that aren't seen by the general public. This is one area where it is to your advantage to find professional SEO services rather than relying on your limited skills to optimize.
There are many ways in which professional SEO services are the way to go for the best possible search engine ranking and results. Magnetiks is a full service shop for all of your Search Engine Optimization needs. Be sure to see what they have to offer before you try to go it alone.
Why is Outsourcing SEO Campaign Management Recommended?
June 12, 2011 on 9:52 am | In Search Engine Optimization | No Commentsby James Stacy Jones
Whether you realize it or not, successful SEO campaign management takes a great deal of time, effort, attention, and knowledge. There are many ways in which you can fail to realize your potential when it comes to search engine optimization and so many trends that come and go.
It is nearly impossible to keep up with all the trends of SEO campaign management so that you are on the right track at all times—especially when you have other duties to distract you from your goals. So, what can professional SEO campaign management do for you that you can't do on your own, when it comes to search engine optimization?
Save Time
SEO is time consuming in the best of circumstances. Even if you know all the steps involved in properly optimizing a website for the search engines to find, it still takes a good deal of time and expertise to put these things into action. When you are facing a learning curve and battling the rampant amount of misinformation online when it comes to SEO you have an uphill battle on your hand that is time consuming at best.
Save Money
Not only is time money but mistakes cost money too. Save your business the cost of lost time and expensive mistakes that are often made by those who are not experienced with the latest SEO techniques. It will cost a great deal less in the long run to pay professionals to manage your SEO campaign the right way from the very beginning.
Get Results
Results, after all, are the reason you take steps to optimize your website in the first place. When you hire a professional SEO campaign management team you can get those results much faster than if you were to do the work on your own. There are many reasons for this. Among those reasons are the following: a professional SEO team knows the ins and outs of search engine optimization. They are not distracted from this task by the other demands of business. They have already done the research and know what does and does not work when it comes to SEO.
When the time comes, and that time should be any time you wish to do business online, it pays to go with the pros. See what Magnetiks can do for your business when it comes to SEO campaign management. You are sure to be thrilled with the professional staff and speedy results they can deliver.
Custom Web Sites -vs- Templates
June 7, 2011 on 10:52 am | In Web Site Information, Search Engine Marketing | No Commentsby James Stacy Jones
In today’s world of ever growing small business the internet can provide a cost effective method for any company to gain exposure. When you put your business online it is absolutely critical for your website to correctly translate your business model in every aspect. This kind of translation requires a custom web solution including: A proper analysis of your current business methods, services and products offered, and a modern interpretation of your image. Template based web pages are unable to correctly translate desired image onto the web in most cases. Templates are also, for the most part, difficult to expand upon in the future. Companies that offer mass template website packages work based on the volume of sites they sell rather than quality.
Custom sites built by professionals can provide a fully expandable, modern, solution that is a precise fit for your ever changing company needs. A website that works shows you a return on investment (ROI) because visitors can find and use it. A true custom solution requires working with you one on one for the most accurate depiction of your company model which will represent you well. This is essential with a Search Engine Marketing plan in place. Site traffic will increase significantly and it is crucial to have a solid, professional, and true representation of how you do business.
SEO Tool You Can’t Live Without - Ranking Manager
June 2, 2011 on 3:47 pm | In Search Engine Optimization | No Commentsby James Stacy Jones
In order to manage how the Search Engines are ranking your main keyword phrases you need a tool that will spider the search engines you are interested in and determine your rank or position on the page or pages. In order to accomplish this task we use a tool called Ranking Manager 6.0 at http://www.websitemanagementtools.com/
Just to summarize this seo tool it will allow you to:
- Analyze yourself and your competition urls with different keyword sets
- Analysis can be stored in MySql database
- Deliver customized reports on position, ranking and engine in different formats ( html, csv, png & xml )
- Schedule all the reports to be sent by email or saved or even ftp'ed automatically
Just so you can see what a report looks like I pasting a snippet of the position summary for AOL:
| Rank | Page | Position | URL | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| e-commerce seo | ||||
| 14 | 2 | 4 | www.magnetiks.com/seo | |
| ecommerce seo | ||||
| 13 | 2 | 3 | www.magnetiks.com/seo | |
| houston seo | ||||
| 18 | 2 | 8 | www.magnetiks.com/ | |
| 30 | 3 | 10 | www.magnetiks.com/free | |
This software is very powerful becaue it give you the ability to tell if your keyword phrase has gone up or down month to month or even disappeared all together.
But what I really like the most is that once you figure out how to use Windows Scheduled Task command then you can set the reports to automatically run while you are sleeping at different intervals ( usually every 3 to 4 hours is how I set mine up ).
Of course like all things that you hope work perfectly out the box, this tool did not work the first 5 or 6 times I used their xml script modified for my settings to work. But being the hard headed person I am I tried different variables and scripts until I finally got it to run without a hitch.
Here is the script in the user manual and here is the script I use.
The things you will need to do:
- Make sure the in the <_Name> tag you use 1000 instead of 2000
- When using format 'html' add a parameter for filename and use htm instead of html because it was the only way to make sure it was attached in the email.
- Also for the format 'chart' add a parameter for filname and use jpg as the extension instead of png.
This should save you a lot of time because I had to go through trial and error to get them attached in the email. But all in all it was well worth it. I have successfully setup over 27 scripts that use Windows Scheduled Task command to run the ranking manager once a month for each of them at different times during the day ( 6am, 6pm, 11pm ) and email me the reports. What a time saver.
Hope that helps someone out there.
